| 'Twas not an Ovlov nor a
locked diff weekend. The weather was cold and windy so the ice was very hard and dense. However, we did have fun... Mike Evans came up and bunked with Terry Dalton, Jeff Wenzel and myself at the fantastically hospitable Minden House B&B! ( mindenhouse@on.aibn.com ) The new rear end works just fine, no problems. I had only one sad moment on track during Saturday's first race in class 1. It was after a stud race so it was very fast. I passed the entire field on the first corner from the back and that included 2 allwheel drive cars that race with us but don't compete against us for points. I managed to build a large lead over the rest of class 1 before the track started to get polished. My entire race was very clean and well driven so when I started to come out of the last turn and catch sight of the checkered flag I was very pleased with myself for a job well done, I would collect my just reward. Then the 4 wheel drive Subaru that I had kept behind me all race pile-drove me in the back corner of the car. This caused both myself and he to spin out of the race, in sight of the checkered flag, and the second place car of Terry Dalton to pass me for the win. I have not been so mad in a long time! Nor have I ever been so perplexed at what the man must have been thinking as he could give me neither explaination nor apology for his actions. This guy, Robbin Virtue by name (I see little in his namesake at this point) is a fellow OMSC member but is not even in my class and therefore not racing me for points! Wierd! I don't know why, I just don't get it. Anyhow I crushed my dash instead of his face and the rest is history. Leon and Jackie Lok were trackside this weekend as was a new face, Mr David Balych. David races 3/4 midgets with Stef Haas (SAC#14) and is this weekend's new SAC member (SAC#160)! He rode shotgun with Stef in studs and in the Ovlov for a race in rubber class. I do have a complete video of the last stud race Sunday this weekend and you may request copies. I will post a clip from that video. Jeff Wenzel got the "Raul" Rabbit running smooth this weekend and we saw him driver to a 1st but bow to team orders at the finish line to let Stef by for the points. Great job Jeff and that thing purrs like a kitten! Results: Class one I finished 4, 2, 3, 4, 3 Results Class 1 Class 11 I finished 1, 2, 3, 1, 3 Results Class 11 Track Conditions/ Weather: The track was not good for locked diff as it was cold , hard and dense ice with hardly any grip anywhere. You couldn't even run the bank. The grooves left by the stud cars were becoming quite an issue as you would just get hooked up on one groove and it would get crossed by another grabbing the frontwheel and throwing you down another groove that you didn't want to go on. The weather was bitter cold with lots of wind chill factor, snow accumulation approx. 7 cms. Racing: Saturday: Sunday: That's it for now, maybe
more later... Highlite(s): Fantastic racing after the stud cars. Worst time keeping ever by the TLMC this weekend - they didn't even have my car number on the grid for the second race Saturday! They also had Russ Bond finishing ahead of my in a class 1 race Sunday. Russ even came up to me on the mock grid for the next class 1 race and told me he should be gridded behind me because he had stopped on the back straight during the last lap by mistake.
